Sara Netherway is a British oil painter based on the Isle of Wight. Her practice is rooted in portraiture, delving into themes of childhood, memory, and familial connection. Drawing from personal archives and everyday life, her work bridges the intimate and the universal, inviting a reflective dialogue between past and present.
Sara studied Fine Art BA(hons) at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, graduating in 1995, after completing a Foundation course at Winchester School of Art. Her style is shaped by expressive realism and cinematic composition, with key influences including John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, and Harold Steggles.
